Peace Agenda

In this blog I hope to challenge our understandings of peace in an effort to learn more of peace in different localities around the world.

As a graduate of peace and conflict transformation I find myself positioned in the peaceful country of Norway, with an abundance of opportunities and resources to create peaceful relationships from. Still, there exist asymmetries and inequalities both within my country and in the world that need to be challenged nonviolently in order to seek a more just, equal and mutually dignified world.

In my own experience, peace often is used as a word which meaning we easily take for granted. This may at best reflect naivety and lead to shallow answers, at worst it positions us in an ethnocentric world view where our ‘universal peace’ is less than relevant for those struggling to survive and thrive in oppressive regimes.

I will start with sharing some questions posed by Oliver P. Richmond (2012);

Who creates and who promotes peace? For what interests? And who is peace for?

Whose peace are we talking about?

Whose peace?
